Thanksgiving is usually spent like this;
wake up in the morning, make peppermint hot chocolate with Kayla and Grandma, turn on the Thanksgiving Day Parade. Send out mass texts to everyone on my contact list saying Happy Thanksgiving! Even to people I never talk to anymore. After the parade, start making dinner. That's right, dinner prep starts around 10-11AM, and the entire house smells delicious starting by noon.
I always make a trip to see my horses, and then come home and start getting the house ready for guests. Family starts arriving around 2, maybe 3, and dinner is around 5. After our huge dinner, some people go into the family room to play board games or card games, and some people go into the tv room to watch the newest cool movie or play video games or watch charlie brown thanksgiving followed by a christmas movie or two. After a few hours, we have dessert. More games, more movies, hot chocolate and coffee. The dogs eat more than their weight in treats.
This year, I woke up to find out that my best friend had gotten locked out of her dorm room while showering and therefore was waiting around outside her room in a towel for TWO HOURS until I woke up and got her some of my clothes. THREE HOURS after I gave her clothing, her roommate shows up finally to unlock the door. I cleaned a horse stall, gave some love to Spice (my substitute horse while I'm here), and helped Becka with her horse. Went to my dorm, wrote 60 sets of the riding tree. Had leftover college burrito, watched part of a movie before I got bored. I spent about 20 minutes straight pacing and grumbling in agitation and annoyance before Becka and I finally decided to go to walmart, for no reason other than we had NOTHING ELSE TO DO. We got to walmart and were entertained by the pre-black friday sales and the disgusting amount of people who were there, shoving people around to get good deals on comforter sets and dr. dre headphones when they should be spending time with their family in their homes. We also began planning my future wedding - it will be in the fall, outside.
Now it's time to start playing christmas music, and in one week the countdown will begin for days to christmas. Advent calendar, anyone?
This is my life, living in a shipping crate in WV. Luckily, I'm done with my Riding Master I, and only have 2 more to go. 3 months down, 6 to go. And only 4 weeks til I get to go home for christmas break! :D
